Curiousities Jul. 10th, 2006 @ 10:04 pm
Hey, so I have a couple questions for all readers out there interested in responding. For both questions I'm just interested in others' viewpoints.

1.) How would you define femininity? Do you see it in the different women you interact with? (This is a question from my bible study that my group has been discussing at length.)

2.) What is your opinion of single sex classrooms? A good idea or a bad one? (I saw this on msn.com today....I personally think it's a good idea, but I want to know what others think.)

Thanks!

Some Kind of Update Jul. 1st, 2006 @ 06:07 pm
I feel like I should attempt to provide some kind of update, but at this point that would require too much brain power. I did however successfully finish school (although a day late) on June 22. This past week I did VBS at church with the pre-K group. That was a fun experience. :] Today was day 1 of actual relaxing....I was able to actually sleep and not have to get up to an alarm! So, I woke up at 3pm....who cares!?! :]
Anyway, here's a fun little list that was forwarded to me from a teammate. I especially love numbers 1, 2, 7, 8, and 13.

YOU MIGHT BE EMPLOYED BY A SCHOOL IF...

1. You believe the playground should be equipped with a Ritalin salt lick.

2. You want to slap the next person that says "Must be nice to work 8 to 3:30 and have summers off".

3. You can tell it's a full moon without ever looking outside.

4. You believe "shallow gene pool" should have its own box on the report card.

5. You believe that unspeakable evils will befall you if anyone says "Boy, the kids sure are mellow today".

6. When out in public you feel the urge to snap your fingers at children you do not know and correct their behavior.

7. You have no social life between August and June.

8. Marking all A's on report cards would make your life SO much easier.

9. You think people should be required to get a government permit before being allowed to reproduce.

10. You wonder how some parents ever MANAGED to reproduce.

11. You laugh uncontrollably when people refer to the staff room as the LOUNGE.

12. You encourage an obnoxious parent to check into charter schools or home school.

13. You can't have children because there's no NAME you can give your child that wouldn't bring on HIGH BLOOD PRESSURE the moment you heard it uttered.

14. You think caffeine should be available in an intravenous form.

15. You know you are in for a major project when a parents says "I have a great idea I'd like to discuss. I think it would be such fun".

16. Meeting a child's parent instantly answers the question "WHY IS THIS CHILD LIKE THIS?"

Welcome Back to Me...Here's a Quiz! Jun. 30th, 2006 @ 05:01 pm
You Are Apple Green

You are almost super-humanly upbeat. You have a very positive energy that surrounds you.
And while you are happy go lucky, you're also charmingly assertive.
You get what you want, even if you have to persuade those against you to see things your way.
Reflective and thoughtful, you know yourself well - and you know that you want out of life.

I've turned into a hermit... Dec. 1st, 2005 @ 09:00 pm
"I need a hobby. Something to pass my time - a goal I can work toward. I've tried knitting, square dancing, social work. I need to have passion about something. Here I am, sitting at my kitchen table, staring at my pancakes and coffee, feeling the emptiness of a life with no meaning.
It's like I'm sitting in a car but the engine is idling. I'm not even on the road - just off to the side. I see the others swoosh by me. I can recognize the shapes of the cars but not the direction they're going. I'm alone, all alone in a car on the side of the road."

"I rent a room and I
Fill the spaces with
Wood in places to
Make it feel like home
But all I feel's alone
It might be a quarter life crisis
Or just the stirring in my soul"

My life seems to be one thing over and over and over again. Monday - wake up, get ready, school, stay until reeaaallllyyyyy late, stop by my parents for dinner (because I'm poor and afraid of my own kitchen), work on school work until the late hours, sleep. Tuesday - wake up, get ready school, stay untill super late, stop by my parents for dinner, work on school work even later than the night before, sleep. And repeat three more times. Saturday and Sunday - sleep and work on school work. How exciting.

I've realized recently, I have to get out of this hole that's burying me alive. There's got to be more than this. I have to leave school way earlier, but what's the use if all I'm going to do is just go home and work on school stuff there for hours on end? I need activities. I need hobbies. I need a purpose.

I looked back to my school days and wondered how I got by then without getting so down. Now I know why Sarah remembers, longs, and cherishes those MWC days. I had things to do. I had places to be. I was needed. I had a purpose. I was at the BSU almost everynight for some activity or another....dinner Tuesday, bible study another night, choir another. There were people to eat with every day. I remember not having enough time for school work, because I was so busy, but it was all okay. How I long for those days again.

Now that I'm "on my own," it soooo much harder to find a place you belong in. There is no BSU across the street. I understand how easy it is for relationships to fall apart because people become workaholics. Work is a safe place...you know what's expected, you know what to do, and it's easy to put hours and hours into it. You surround yourself with your "safe place" (work) and everything else goes out the window. I've turned into a hermit. I don't talk to anyone outside of school. I don't visit anyone. I don't hang out with anyone. Who knows, due to my actions, I may not have any friends outside of school.

Life stinks. But there's *got* to be a way to fix it.

"There's gotta be something more. Gotta be more than this. I need a little less hard time. I need a little more bliss. I'm gonna take my chances. Take a chance I might. Find what I'm looking for. There's gotta be something more."

I despriately need to find my "Purpose Driven Life."

You scored as Shepherd Derrial Book. The Preacher. Out here, folks need a minister, if only to remind them that God hasn't forgotten them. It isn't about making them worship, it is teaching them to do right by themselves and other people. Why is that so hard for some to understand?

Pick a back yard football team,
Nothin' much of anything:
That's what I love about Sunday.

A smile on everybody's face.

Capricorns Can't Quit

This sign is the original workaholic. Many Capricorns fear that poverty will set in the moment they stop toiling. Keeping a gratitude journal can break this terrible habit. The more Capricorn becomes aware of their non-material blessings, the healthier their behavior will become. No more cutting vacations short for the sake of work!

Well they say this is for all of Virginia, but I think mostly it applies to NOVA, but hey its completely true and totally funny, and if you ever lived in NOVA you can totally understand this!

You Know You're From Virginia When...

*Speed limits are just suggestions - totally...of course 65 means 80.

*You have at least two friends who have no idea what their relatives do...because its "top secret" government work - yep

*Most of your senior class went to Mary Washington, George Mason, JMU, VA Tech, VCU or UVA

*When people ask where you're from, you tell them DC because its easier to explain - especially those from out of state

*You've never told someone you're from Virginia without putting "northern," "central," or "southern" in front of it (See above.)

It's not actually tailgating unless your bumper is touching the car in front of you.

You know yellow light means at least 5 more cars can get through. (Yeah, man...at least. Probably also happens everywhere else.) A red light means 2 more can.

You actually know what the black boxes at stoplights are for.

*Despite the fact that Virginia fought for the south in the Civil War, you are not, under any circumstances, a "southerner"

*You are amused by visiting relatives who are actually excited to see Washington, DC

You took a field trip to Williamsburg as a kid

*You are amazed when you go out of town and the people at McDonalds speak English - or when you get your hair cut in Fredericksburg and they all speak English

*You or someone in your family has a Smart Tag - or every car in the family has a Smart Tag...it's much faster than stopping to pay the toll. :]

*An inch of snow and you miss 3 days of school

All the potholes just add a little excitement to your driving experience

*Crown Victoria = undercover cop

*Subway is a fast food place. The transportation system is known as Metro, and only Metro. - and sometimes you slip and refer to the NYC Metro...I mean Subway. :]

*They just tore down the old farm house across the street and put 12 new McMansions in its place

For the cost of your house, you could own a small town in Iowa

*If you stay on the same road long enough, it will eventually have three new names. - that or there'll be three different roads with the same name in a similar area

*You have to dial the area code to call your neighbor - totally have to.

"Vacation" means spending a day at King's Dominion or Busch Gardens.

"Going to the River" means any stream with water.

*You have never been served tea without the waitress asking "sweet or unsweetened?" - only at Cracker Barrel and Red, Hot, and Blue

*Your favorite past time is telling West Virginia jokes. - especially since my brother goes to school there

Anyone who can't trace his or her ancestry back to at least four generations in Virginia is an outsider.

"Going to the beach" means anywhere from Ocean City to Virginia Beach to Myrtle Beach.

You actually get these jokes and pass them on to other friends from Virginia.

Which old school Nickelodeon show are you?
brought to you by Quizilla

I don't see how it's me, but still, I really enjoyed this show and actually was trying to think of it's name earlier today. Crazy! :]
» I've got 18 minutes before my dinner is done....
So, how about a little entry. I don't know where to even begin.

These past few weeks have been absolutely insane and crazy! I've never been so busy and exhausted in my life! Sleep has been a rare thing, because there has been so much "end of the year" stuff to do. Friday, the 24th was the last day for students. It was a bittersweet day. We had school from 8:20am to 10:50am....yeah, yeah...why even bother....anyway, we watched a movie, played games, and they had the opportunity to "buy" stuff with their tickets. About 10 minutes before dismissal I begin passing out their papers, awards, and report cards. I'm about half way done when they begin calling students for dismissal...usually a 10 minute process because they call different students at stagerd times...like walkers, kiss and riders, patrols, second floor, etc. Within two minutes, they ended up dismissing everyone! I'm trying to hurriedly shove my kids out the door and still give them their papers! Needless to say, I didn't get to say goodbye because of it being so rushed! (Which might have been a good thing...I probably would have cried as I said goodbye to them.) In the afternoon, we had a farewell luncheon for those staff members leaving. Dude, the program lasted 3 hours! We have like 20+ people moving on....so really it was just a long cry fest. At the end though the people staying next year were reconized, which was cool. :] That way we didn't feel so bad about not going, since that seemed to be the trend. But after the emotional day, who wants to go back and pack their classroom? Not me...it would have been easier to call it a night and go home and have a pity party. But, I did being packing.
Saturday morning school was open, so mom, dad, and I went over for a few hours to pack my classroom. That evening was the staff party...that was entertaining. I found out some more information about next year...which I'll have to share in another posting...I'm very excited about it! I swear though, the hostess, (who I love dearly) was trying to get me drunk. It was entertaining.
Today, was the official last day for teachers....although I haven't finished packing my room yet, so I'll be there tomorrow too. By the end of the day today I was just so frustrated for not being finished and not really knowing what to do. I'm feeling better now though....tomorrow Janet (my team leader) is coming to help me with some of my check out papers and actually the building supervisor check out person won't be in until 3pm, so I definitely have until then to finish. Things are looking better, although I'm ready to just be done....leave it all behind (mess or not) and come back in August! AHHH! It will be okay. Gotta go.
» Diagonsis
I think I've diagonosed myself with seperation anxiety. I don't want to miss anything. It's too easy to stay in one spot. It's more work to hang out with my friends. I'm falling into my trap again...and I really don't want to. I need to get out, but I'm content here. AAAAHHHH!!!

Alright, I guess I should finally leave to go house/cat/boy sit. Later.

Your brain: 60% interpersonal, 140% visual, 40% verbal, and 160% mathematical!
Congratulations on being 400% smart! Actually, on my test, everyone is. The above score breaks down what kind of thinking you most enjoy doing. A score above 100% means you use that kind of thinking more than average, and a score below 100% means you use it less. It says nothing about how good you are at any one, just how interested you are in each, relatively. A substantial difference in scores between two people means, conclusively, that they are different kinds of thinkers.

Matching Summary: Each of us has different tastes. Still, I offer the following advice, which I think is obvious:

  1. Don't date someone if your interpersonal percentages differ by more than 80%.
  2. Don't be friends with someone if your verbal percentages differ by more than 100%.
  3. Don't have sex with someone if their math percentage is over 200%.

Your Life Path Number Is 3

3

Your Life Path is one that emphasizes expression, sociability, and creativity as the lesson to be learned in this life.

You are among the entertainers of the world, bright, effervescent, sparkling people with very optimistic attitudes.

You possess the most exceptional creative skills: normally in the verbal realm, writing, speaking, acting, or similar endeavors.

The lesson to be learned with a 3 life path is that of achievement through expression.

The bright side of this path stresses harmony, beauty and pleasures; of sharing your creative talents with the world. Capturing your capability in creative self-expression is the highest level of attainment for this life path.

You are warm and friendly, a good conversationalist, social and open.

A good conversationalist both from the standpoint of being a delight to listen to, but even more importantly, one who has the ability to listen to others.

You are always a welcome addition to any social situation and know how to make others feel at home.

Your reative imagination is present, if sometimes latent, as the you may not be moved to develop you talent.

Your approach to life tends to be exceedingly positive, and your disposition is almost surely sunny and open-hearted.

You effectively cope with all of the many setbacks that occur in life and readily bounce back for more.

It is usually easy for you to deal with problems because you can freely admit the existence of problems without letting them get you down.

You have good manners and seem to be very conscious of other people's feelings and emotions.

Life is generally lived to the fullest, often without much worry about tomorrow.

You are not very good at handling money because of a general lack of concern about it.

You spend it when you have it and don't when you don't.

On the negative side, a 3 may be so delighted with the joy of living that the life becomes frivolous and superficial.

You may scatter your abilities and express little sense of purpose.

You can be an enigma, for no apparent reason you may become moody and tend to retreat.

Escapist tendencies are not uncommon with the 3 life path, and you find it very hard to settle into one place or one position.

Guard against being critical of others, impatient, intolerant, or overly optimistic.

Typically, the life path 3 gives an above-average ability in some art form.

This can encompass painting, interior decorating, landscaping, crafts, writing, music, or the stage, or all of the above.

You are apt to be a happy, inspired person, constantly seeking the stimuli of similar people.

Your exuberant nature can take you far, especially if you are ever able to focus your energies and talents.

Whoa, that was weird - even after hearing all of you comment on how accurate this thing was.

Your Taste in Music:

Country: Highest Influence
90's Pop: Medium Influence
Adult Alternative: Medium Influence
90's Hip Hop: Low Influence
R&B: Low Influence

Are we surprised? Nope.
